The Rotary Club of Banbury has an Emergency Response Working Group which has authorised a donation of £500 to Shelterbox towards tackling the current situation in Nepal.
On 26 August, a sudden glacier collapse sent mud, ice and rock plunging around 1,200 metres into the Bhote Koshi River, triggering a powerful flood that raced downstream through communities in Nepal and Tibet sweeping away homes, roads, bridges and buildings and key infrastructure. As of 9 September, at least 1,375 people have died, more than 5,000 remain missing and over 85,000 are affected across flood-hit districts.
