Visit to Quainton Windmill

Quainton Windmill is nearly 200 years old, and is one of only circa 40 windmills in the UK which is still fully operational. A tour, led by an expert team of volunteers, involves a pictorial presentation on the history of windmills, how windmills work, the milling process and the story of the restoration of the mill over the last fifty years. For those who are able, this is followed by a climb up the six-storey building to see the 193 year old machinery and the stunning views."

Quainton Windmill - meet at Cricket Club 9.30am Thursday 14 August

This trip will be in our own cars and involve a guided tour of the Windmill followed by lunch at a nearby pub. Hoping we can get 4-5 car loads. Already have 3 drivers on board (Martin, John B and me) so another 2 would be ideal. Cost £10 per head plus your lunch. It’s near Aylesbury so could be combined with an afternoon stop off at Waddesdon Manor on way back for those interested.
