Members and partners enjoyed dinner together at the Whately Hall Hotel on the evening of Weds 9 April.
It was to be a very busy night with the induction of a new Corporate Member. Apppropriately, after an excellent two-course meal, it was the managing director of the Whately, Leigh Gerard, who became our 4th Corporate Member.
Dawn Hadson , the CEO of the charity Reducing the Risk of Domestic Abuse, then gave a short presentation on how the monies recently donated by Club will go towards their innovative Torchbearer Project, working with local schools and businesses to raise their awareness of and support them in being there for school staff and children impacted by domestic abuse. Reducing the Risk is an Oxfordshire-based charity that works locally, regionally and nationally to empower professionals, volunteers and communities who support victim-survivors of domestic abuse. Lastly, and sadly, Joathan Meredith gave a humorous and moving farewell to Club on his last attendance before he and Jane move “Up North” to be closer to their family. Nigel Randall recalled the long and outstanding contribution that Jonathan had given to Rotary, especially in leading the Children Singing for Children team for 8 years in raising funds for children's causes, and the noteworthy mentorship that Jonathan had given him personally.
