The 24 October is World Polio Day.
It's a day to celebrate the progress made towards eliminating this terrible disease from planet Earth.
Rotary has spearheaded international the vaccination programme to eradicate polio and we are 99.9% of the way there.
Sadly cases persist in Afghanistan and Pakistan and until every last trace is eliminated it can - and probably will - flare up again. The fight goes on!
In Banbury the Town Hall on 24th October was lit up purple - the colour of the dye used in less developed countries to mark the finger of children to keep track of who has and hasn't been vaccinated.
At around 7:00pm members of Rotary gathered outside the town hall to talk to those wanting to know more about this project - or indeed those who may want to find out more about Rotary in general.
