Joint Service Clubs Carol Concert
Dec 08, 2024 3:00 pm
This event started in 2001 to bring the various Banbury service clubs together before Christmas for a joint service at the Marlborough Road Methodist Church to celebrate the festive season and enjoy fellowship, carols and refreshment together.   Each participating club brings mince pies and their President/Chairman contributes to the service.

The number of clubs has decreased over the years with the disbanding of Round Table, 41 Club, Rotaract, and Tangent: however, we have since been joined by Probus and the Townswomen’s Guild.

Do come along at 3pm and support this joyous event which offers a very happy mix of carols and a jolly good chat. It is hoped that the Town Mayor and Lady Saye and Sele will attend.

Contact Rtn Dr Ian Rodrick for additional information.

Young Chef Competition
Jan 14, 2025

The Rotary Club of Banbury is organizing the Young Chef Competition local heat on January 14, 2024, at Wykham Park Academy's Futures Building, which was successfully used in the previous year. Finalists, along with their families and judges, should arrive by 5:30 p.m. for a 6:00 p.m. start. Only finalists and three judges will be allowed in the cooking area during the two-hour competition.

Participants must prepare a main course and dessert for display, providing their own menu, cutlery, and glasses. Judging will focus on presentation, with trophies for the winner and runner-up, and certificates for all finalists. Clean-up is the responsibility of the finalists, as the academy will be operational the next day, and the building must be locked by 9:00 p.m.

Applications are due by December 6, 2024, and should include ingredient lists, costs (maximum £18 per meal), processes, and schedules. Submissions can be emailed to bernardgoodchild367@gmail.com or delivered to Henry’s Tailors, with collection from the academy available upon request.

Volunteers are sought for 10 members to fill set up, stewarding and hosting duties on the night using the ClubRunner Sign Up link below:

Theatre Trip
Mar 21, 2025 7:15 pm - 10:30 pm

Fancy a trip to the theatre without having to drive 25 plus miles?  Then read on. The Banbury Cross Players are putting on a Comedy Whodunnit at the Mill Arts Centre on 21st March. “Inspector Drake and the Perfect Crime”. Curtain up at 7.30 p.m.

When a genius commits a murder, the plan is perfect. But is it? Inspector Drake is facing his greatest ever challenge. Who is the mysterious Dr Short and why did he marry a warthog? Has he murdered his fourth wife – or did she murder him first? Who is the real Sabrina? No fingerprints? No murder weapon? Inspector Drake is completely clueless!!

A comedy whodunnit with more twists than a Chuck Berry song!  Expect surprises, slapstick and some risqué humour in this hilarious parody of an Agatha Christie country house murder mystery.

If you want to know if he solves the crime, you’ll need to reserve a seat. Ask me to book your £15 tickets by 27th January and I’ll do the rest. Hope to see you in the bar on the night.

Join a few of your Rotary colleagues, partners and friends every Tuesday morning 1030-1130 at a very informal coffee meeting for chat and banter over tea and coffee (and a handy place to sort things out!). Do feel free to bring biscuits and cake to share if you are feeling particularly generous, but this is not compulsory - your presence is the important thing!

The surplus from the refreshment payments is donated to the Rotary Foundation Fund.
