On Saturday 7th October St Mary’s Church was filled with the sound of music from some of the top choirs in Banburyshire.
They were singing in a packed concert organised by The Rotary Club of Banbury to raise money for three worthy local charities:
- Katharine House Hospice
- MyVision (Social Eyes)
- RVS Dementia
Rotary was supported in getting the event ‘off the ground’ by Banbury Charities and Norbar Torque Tools to whom many thanks. Thanks also to Arts and St Marys for the sound and lighting and St John’s Ambulance for first aid cover.
Five choirs performed: there were meant to be six choirs but sadly a number of members of Banbury Operatic Society had tested positive for covid and so the entire choir withdrew rather than risk spreading it.
We will not know the total surplus to go to the charities.until we receive all the bills.
What was self-evident is that the concert generated some welcome joy and happiness for all present.
