Rotary has always cared for the environment but this topic was recently upgraded to one of Rotary’s key Areas of Focus.
It was well into the pandemic that Banbury Rotary began locally co-ordinating the collection of the blister-packs that most tablets now come in.
We are currently well on our way towards our 200th bag.
They are too difficult to recycle at local facilities but from January 2021 to February 2022 the specialist national scheme to which we subscribe, recycled over 26 million medicine blister packs, weighing nearly 57,000KG. That’s a lot of plastic and aluminium that would have ended up in landfill.
So – don’t just “keep taking the tablets!” Recycle the packs they come in as well!
