Changed Christmas Collections – Dec 2020

Banbury Rotary Club Christmas Collections for KHH and other Charities: Bad News – Good News!

Bad news:  😳 This year Banbury Rotary Club’s annual Street Organ Charity Collections at local Supermarkets are not permitted because of Covid-19 restrictions.

Good News:  😉 The Club is delighted to announce it has been able to negotiate alternative collection venues in Banbury Town Centre.  There will be four days of Christmas Tunes on the street organs at the following venues:

  • Tuesday 15th December from 10am to 4pm: shoppers will be entertained at the corner of Church Lane and High Street (old Moss Bros)
  • Tuesday 22nd:  between the same times in Castle Quay.
  • Saturday 19th and Christmas Eve: our street organ grinders will add to this year’s muted Christmas Cheer in Banbury Market Place from 10am to 3pm.

Collections will as usual be donated 75% to Katharine House Hospice and 25% to other Rotary Charities supporting local causes. We will be collecting donations in cash or using contactless card readers.

The Club would like to express its sincere thanks to Castle Quay Management and Cherwell District Council for permission to proceed with this year’s collections.

We hope shoppers – especially those with young children – will note the times and enjoy just a touch of traditional merriment in this difficult year.
